About two weeks ago, Murray Williams of the Cape Argus asked Mayor Dan Plato, Premier Helen Zille, Anwar Nagia of the District Six Development Trust, Western Cape Land Claims Commissioner Beverly Jansen and myself to give our perspectives on the causes of the delay in the restitution and redevelopment of District Six, a community forceably removed in terms of the Group Areas Act by the Apartheid regime during the 1960s and 1970s.
